Mr. Richard Horace Newsome, Jr., 59, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Heartland Hospice in Austell following an extended illness.
He was born August 17, 1948 in Phenix City, Alabama the son of Mrs. Pauline Blaxton Newsome and the late Mr. Richard Horace Newsome, Sr. He married Vivie Wheeler June 7, 1969 in Mableton. He was a member of the Mableton Assembly of God. He was a manager for BellSouth where he retired following 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Vivie Wheeler Newsome of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda Lyn and Nathan Word of Powder Springs; sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher L. and Shannon Newsome of Douglasville and Joshua Timothy and Deana Newsome of Lithia Springs; his mother, Pauline Blaxton Newsome of Dothan, AL; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jane and Mark Redmond of Dothan, AL; four grandchildren, Miranda, Xan, Ezree, and Lowell; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, February 18, 2008 at 1:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Gregory D. Morris officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Saturday, February 16, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Sunday, February 17, 2008 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Florence Wheeler of Mableton left this earth to be with her lord on October 5, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joseph Lowell Wheeler.
Florence retired after many years from the Arrow Shirt Company where she worked as a seamstress. She found great comfort, joy and fellowship at her church home, Mableton Assembly of God. Even though her house was small, it was always full of kids, grandkids, home cooking and love. Florence's holiday family gatherings were seldom, if ever, missed by anyone. All of the grand children's fondest memories are the times they spent at their Granny's house.
She is survived by her daughter, Vivie Newsome, and sons, Kevin Wheeler (Louise) and Edwin (Cindi) Wheeler. She was a loving and cherished "Granny" to 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8, at 2:00 PM in Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Randy Scalise officiating.
Interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, 12:00 - 2:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
