She graduated from Columbia High School, class of 1937, and went on to get correspondence certificates in Book Keeping, short hand and others. During WWII, she & her sister, Nellie, moved to Jacksonville to work in the war efforts as Book Keepers where in 1945, she met her future husband returning from Europe and started her small family. Over the years, she moved with her husband from Jacksonville to Myrtle Beach, SC to Fitzgerald, GA to Titusville, FL, then back to Jacksonville before returning to Lake City in 1983 to retire.

She dearly loved her family and family reunions, her church, reading, studying history and flowers. She never had ill will against anybody or anything. She never wanted to bother anyone else with her problems, even to the use of 911 calls. She was an inspiration to all of us on how to lead our lives with God. Not many people can live as exemplary a life as she did for 102 years. She will be missed.
