- Mr. Robert Melton, 86, passed away in the late morning on Friday, January 31, 2020, at the Vitas Gainesville Health Center in Gainesville, Florida.
Mr. Melton was born February 1, 1933, in Columbia County, Florida to the late Nettie Register and Dan Melton. He lived in the area his entire life.
Mr. Melton was a member of Prospect Baptist Church of White Springs, Florida.
Mr. Melton was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served as a machinist. He then worked with Florida Times Union for 18 years. He retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
In his spare time, Mr. Melton enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and carpentry.
Survivors are his wife: Mattie-Jasper, FL; son and daughter-in-law: Irvin and Suzie Melton-Middleburg, FL; son: Danny Melton-White Springs, FL; one daughter: Susan and Allen Padgett-Carthage, TN; one sister: Daisy Vickers-Jasper, FL; and twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Melton will be held Monday, February 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home.
