- Virgil Leon Wilkes, age 63, of Mena, AR passed away Sunday, December 20, 2009 in Mena. He was born April 25, 1946 in Tulsa, OK to the late James Burt Wilkes and Dorothy Green Wilkes. He was united in marriage to Linda Fizz. Mr. Wilkes was a welding service technician by profession and known by many as the best around. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. Survivors are: wife, Linda Wilkes of Mena, AR; sons, David Wilkes of Broken Arrow, OK, Travis Wilkes of Oologah, OK; daughters, Angela Henslick and husband, Mark of Broken Arrow, OK, Donielle Burggraf and husband, Brad of Sapulpa, OK; mother, Dorothy Wilkes of Tulsa, OK; brothers, James Wilkes of Tulsa, OK, Gerald Wilkes of Tulsa, OK, Walter Wilkes of Tulsa, OK, Gary Wilkes of Henryetta, OK, Donald Wilkes of Tulsa, OK, Freddy Wilkes of Tulsa, OK, Robby Wilkes of Broken Arrow, OK, Michael Wilkes of Tulsa, OK; sister, Marilyn Pullen and husband, David of Big Cabin, OK; grandchildren, Devin Wolfe, Alexis Wolfe, Harry Henslick, Hudson Henslick, Savana Wilkes, Machai Burggraf, Ryder Burggraf. He was preceded in death by his father, James Burt Wilkes and a brother, David Wilkes. Mr. Wilkes was sent for cremation under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A memorial service will be Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Belview Baptist Church, 1040 North Yale, Tulsa, OK. This obituary was published in the Tulsa World on 12/29/2009.
