- Jacquelyn Johnson Wilkes
HARTSVILLE - Jacquelyn "Jackie" Johnson Wilkes, 83, widow of Don G. Wilkes, died Monday, April 11, 2011. A memorial service will be held Thursday afternoon, April 14, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Wesley United Methodist Church. The Reverend Fran Elrod will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. A private burial will be held at Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilkes was born May 11, 1927, in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Robert Bryan Johnson and Daisy Lane Johnson. She was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church for over 40 years, a graduate of Hartsville High School, and prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years in the accounting department at Sonoco Products Company in Hartsville.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a compassionate person who loved with her whole heart. She was generous, giving, vivacious, and had a passion for family, and helping others. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Linda Wilkes Gee (George) of Columbia and Donna Wilkes Atkinson (Joseph) of McColl; grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Jonathan Benjamin Gee (Mollie) of Charlotte, Dr. Nicholas Dargan Gee (Michelle) of Lexington, Whitney Wilkes Gee of Columbia, Meredith O'Neal Atkinson and Ainsley Elizabeth Atkinson of Bennettsville; great grandchildren, Anna Claire Barrington, Wilkes Barksdale Gee, Dargan Baldwin Gee, and Katherine Blakely Gee; sister, Mary Johnson Askins of Myrtle Beach; special cousin, Annie Jane Langston of Summerville; dear friend, Gary E. Mims of Hartsville; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Bryan Johnson Jr.
