ARTHUR
James Arthur Hendricks, 87, passed away on August 6th, 2010 in Lake Placid, FL. He was born in Lake Butler, FL on November 20th, 1922 to Stephen Butler and Ollie Langford Hendricks. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Adolyen Foskey Hendricks and his only child, Angela "Boots" Raulerson.
He is survived by his son-in-law, Jim Raulerson, 2 grandchildren Brad Raulerson (wife Catherine) and Ami Raulerson Grek (husband Mark) and 2 great grandchildren Brayden Raulerson and Adolyen "Addie" Grek.
James was a long time member and Deacon of University City Church of Christ in Gainesville, FL.
James served in both the active and reserve Navy a total of 35 years. He enlisted in December 1942 and returned home in 1946 and then joined the Navy reserve in 1947. He was called back to duty in 1950 for the Korean War. James stayed in the reserves until he retired in 1977.
After returning from active duty, James was a long time employee of Baird Hardware Store in downtown Gainesville and then worked for Florida Pest Control in Gainesville and Starke for many years.
Graveside services for Mr. Hendricks will be held on Saturday, August 14th at 11 AM at Crosby Lake Cemetery in Starke, Florida followed by a memorial service at 12 PM at the Lake Butler Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers expressions or sympathy may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 4418 Sun and Lake Blvd. Sebring, FL 33872.
