- Ms. Lorene Edna Thomas Davis, 90, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 11, 2015 in the Shands at Lake Shore Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born September 19, 1924 in Lake City to the late Reuben H. Thomas, Jr. and Florence Smith Thomas. She was born and raised in Lake City, and lived most of her life in Mariana, where she lived until all or her kids where grown. She moved back to Lake City, and became actively involved in her genealogy; she even helped catalog the Corinth Cemetery and some of the other surrounding cemeteries.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years: Sanders L. Davis, Jr.; son: 1st Lieutenant FWC Ernest Michael Davis, Sr. and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son: Sanders L. Davis, III; grandchildren: 1st SG (Ret) US Army: Ernest Michael Davis, II of Jacksonville; Nichael D. Davis of Lake City and Landon James Davis of Mariana; great-grandchildren: Megan White and Dagen N. Davis of Mariana, Ernest Michael “Trey” Davis, III of Yulee, Trinity Morgan Davis of Yulee and Kayla Lynn Murray of California. Many other extended family members and friends also survive.
Graveside funeral services for Ms. Lorene Davis will be conducted on Monday February 16, 2015 at 2 P.M. in the Corinth Cemetery with Rev. Mike Norman officiating. Interment will follow.
