James 'Frank' Murray
James Franklin "Frank" Murray, 74, passed away early Friday (May 2, 2008) morning at Satilla Regional Medical Center.
A native of Appling County, he lived in Pierce County for most of his life before moving to Waycross in 2005. He was a lathe operator with Champion International and was a member of Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
He was a son of the late James Stephen and Pearlie Mae Thornton Murray and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Scecila Boyette Murray, and a son, Ricky Murray.
He loved gardening, fishing, going to church and Sacred Harp singing. He also loved raising his chickens before his health forced him to stop.
Survivors are his wife, Winifred Thornton Murray, of Waycross; a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Terry M. Walker, of Blackshear; a son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Patti Murray, of Blackshear; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Virginia Howard and Minnie Cade, both of Blackshear, and Velma and Kenneth Cason, of Patterson; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Willard Murray, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Carroll Murray, Rommie Joe and Eula Murray and Claludie and Linda Murray, all of Blackshear, and Orvil and Donna Murray of Patterson; seven grandchildren, Jamie and Hannah Murray, Amanda and Jamie Sinclair, Misty Davlin, Christy Davlin, Casey and Timmy Davis, Jesse Walker and Shelby Murray; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 o'clock at the Pearson-Dial Chapel. Visitation will be this evening from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
