- Mrs. Edna V. Sands, age 83, of Macclenny, Florida died Monday, June 1, in the Acosta-Rau Center for Caring, Jacksonville, Florida following a long illness.
Mrs. Sands was born in the Moniac, Georgia community and lived in the Georgia bend area and Macclenny, Florida all of her life. She worked as a bookkeeper for Sands Motor Company, Macclenny, Fla., was a dispatcher for many years with the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, was appointed Clerk of the Court of Baker County in 1993, and then worked and retired from the Northeast Florida State Hospital, Macclenny, Florida. She enjoyed traveling to Cherokee, North Carolina and the Smokey Mountains.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Harley and Lossie Rhoden Burnsed.
She is survived by her husband, George W. “Dub” Sands, Jr. of Macclenny, Fla.: Two daughters, Sherree (Byron) Brinkley of Macclenny, Florida and Terri (Ronnie) Frame of Jacksonville, Florida: One son, Mike (Sherry) Sands of Macclenny, Florida: One sister, Geneva Griffin of Jacksonville, Florida: One brother, Nathan Burnsed of Baxter, Florida: Six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
A remembrance service to honor the life of Mrs. Sands will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, June 5, in the First Baptist Church, Macclenny, Florida with Rev. Ronald Kimbrell of Starke, Florida officiating and assisted by Dr. Edsel Bone, Pastor of the First Baptist Church.
Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Baker County, Florida.
Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, June 4, at the church.
