Gilbert Clarence Borradaile, Sr. of Chestertown, MD died on January 24, 2004 at Chester River Hospital Center in Chestertown, MD. He was 85.
Born in Jessup, MD on July 5, 1918, he was the son of the late Gilbert J. and Mae L. Keys Borradaile. He was a graduate of Baltimore City College High School and a 1940 graduate of George Washington University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He served in the US Navy during WWII as a cryptologist and was honorably discharged following the war. He married Katherine Rachel Caison in 1943 and they lived in Hyattsville, MD for several years.
Mr. Borradaile worked with the National Security Agency and retired in 1972, following his retirement he resided in Silver Spring before moving to Kent Island, MD in 1980. In 1990, he and his wife moved to Chestertown, MD where they were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Borradaile predeceased her husband in 1991.
Mr. Borradaile is survived by a son, Gilbert C. Borradaile, Jr. of Rehobeth Beach, DE, formerly of Annapolis, MD; a daughter, Katherine Marie Bufanio of Stillwater, NJ and five grandchildren, Anthony, Gilbert III, Peter, and Amy Borradaile and Kristina Flanagan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church High Street Chestertown, MD. Relatives and friends may call that morning between the hours of 9:00-10:30 at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, MD. Interment will be in Stevensville Cemetery, Stevensville, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 207 East Market Street, Salisbury, MD 21801.
